1.  Nice launches GreenStar project: A 5 year project that focuses on developing microalgae in order produce third generation biofuels from industrial CO2, organic waste and solar energy.  The ambitious project will involve over 200 researchers, engineers, technicians and will cost the Alpes Maritimes Departmental Council and the Nice Cote D'Azur Metropole 500,000 euros over the next 10 years. 5.  Addition of new tramway lines to reduce local traffic: With the successful creation of the first tramway in Nice in 2007, Nice Mayor Christian Estrossi decided to create two new lines to form a cohesive tramway network, one east-west line (T2) which will service the airport and  the port, and another (T3) that will actually cross the valley of the Var.  The first line (T1) will also be extended to the Pasteur neighborhood.
